Okay, so I saw this Remake PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag online, and I was like, “Damn, that’s a sharp bag!” It’s simple, got a nice little chain, not too big, not too small. Just right. I thought, “Why not try to remake one myself? Could be a fun little project.”

First, I went online and looked at a bunch of pictures of the bag. Close-ups, different angles, all that stuff. Took some notes on the size, the shape, how the chain is attached, and so on. I even found some knock-off sites to see how other people are interpreting this bag, you know? Gotta scope out the competition, even if it’s a fake competition.

Then, I hit up some fabric stores. Found this sturdy black nylon that looked pretty close to the original. It’s not Re-Nylon, but hey, it’ll do. I also grabbed some lining fabric, some interfacing to give it structure, and a zipper. For the chain, I went to a hardware store and found a nice, weighty one that had the right look. Not the exact same, but close enough.

Next, I started drafting a pattern. This was the trickiest part, to be honest. I sketched out the basic shape of the bag on some paper, figuring out the dimensions based on the pictures I had. I made the pattern pieces, cut them out, and then cut the fabric using the pattern. Sewing it together was pretty straightforward. I sewed the main body of the bag, attached the lining, and added the zipper.

The chain was a bit of a challenge. I had to figure out how to attach it to the bag so it would be secure. I ended up sewing some fabric loops onto the sides of the bag and then threading the chain through them. It worked out pretty well, I think.

Finally, I added a little “PRADA” tag that I made myself. I just printed out the logo on some thick paper, glued it to a piece of leather, and sewed it onto the bag. Cheesy, I know, but it adds a little something, right?

The Result

Honestly, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not an exact replica, of course. The stitching’s probably a bit wonky in places, and the materials aren’t exactly designer quality. But, it looks pretty darn close to the real thing! And I made it myself, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try remaking some other designer bags in the future. Who knows? This could be the start of a whole new hobby for me. But for now I’m going to enjoy my handmade Remake PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag, even if it is a little rough around the edges.
