Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this YSL June Box Bag for a while now. It’s just so classic and pretty, you know? But the price tag? Ouch. Not exactly in my budget right now. But that didn’t stop me! I thought, “Why not try to remake it?” So, that’s what I did. Here’s how it went down.
First, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the bag online. I zoomed in, took screenshots, and really tried to get a feel for all the details. YSL bags are known for their quality, especially the material they use, so I knew I had to get that right. The original one comes in a few different materials, like python and calfskin, which sounds fancy, but I decided to go with regular leather for my version. Just keeping it simple and within my skills, haha.
Next, I started hunting for materials. This was a whole adventure in itself. I went to different fabric stores and leather shops, looking for something that felt good and looked similar to the real deal. They use things like silk and real leather, so it’s all top-notch stuff. I ended up finding a nice piece of black leather that I thought would work perfectly. For the lining, I found some black satin fabric.
Then came the fun part—actually making the bag. I sketched out a rough pattern based on the pictures I had, trying to get the measurements as close as possible. I’m not a pro at this, so there was a lot of trial and error. I cut out the leather pieces, sewed them together, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. The YSL logo was a bit tricky, but I managed to find a metal piece that looked pretty similar and attached it to the front flap.

But if you’re on a budget like me, and you enjoy a good DIY project, this is a pretty satisfying way to get the look without breaking the bank. Just don’t expect it to be a perfect replica—embrace the handmade charm!
