Alright, let’s talk about the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing. I gotta say, it was a pretty cool experience getting my hands on this one. So, I went to the specialty store, you know, the one with all the fancy watches. It’s always a bit intimidating, but hey, I was on a mission.
First off, I got to see the watch. It’s got that classic Speedmaster look, you know, the one everyone recognizes. They call it the Speedmaster Racing design. It’s got this black ceramic bezel ring and that yellow “grand feu” enamel tachymeter scale. Looks pretty sharp, I gotta admit.
Getting the Details
Then, I started digging into the details. This thing is accurate within +2 seconds per day. That’s crazy! They’ve got this new Spirate System, which seems like a big deal. Apparently, it makes the watch super precise. I’m no watch expert, but that sounds impressive.
Next, I learned that this watch is a tribute to the Seamaster Aqua Terra 15,000 Gauss. That was the watch that started OMEGA’s whole anti-magnetism thing back in 2013. So, this new Speedmaster is kind of a nod to that. Pretty cool, right?
Checking the Numbers
Now, here’s where it gets a bit tricky. You gotta find the Reference Number inside the case-back and the eight-digit serial number in the movement. I’m not really into vintage watches, so this was new to me. But, the staff at the store helped me out, and we found all the numbers.
Driving the Speedmaster Super Racing is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9920. I am not so sure about the movement, but the seller introduced it to me, it has strong reliability.
Exploring More
I also did some research online, you know, just to see what others were saying. I checked out some marketplaces, and it seems like there are a lot of these watches being bought and sold. Financing is even available, which is good to know.
I found out that the Speedmaster Reduced was discontinued in 2009, but there are still smaller Speedmaster watches in the OMEGA catalog. They’ve got the Speedmaster Racing and Speedmaster 38 collections. So, if you’re into smaller watches, there are still options.
Wrapping Up
All in all, messing with the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing was a blast. It’s a solid, accurate, and pretty cool-looking watch. The Spirate System seems like a big deal, and the tribute to the Seamaster Aqua Terra is a nice touch. If you’re into watches, this one is definitely worth checking out. I learned a lot, and it was a fun experience. That’s all about it!
