Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG: How to Find It at Specialty Stores and What to Expect

Okay, so let’s talk about this little project I did. I decided to remake the Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRÉ SATCHEL BAG. Yeah, the one you see in those fancy stores. It’s a pretty bag, no doubt, but I wanted to see if I could make one myself.

  • First, I got a good look at the original bag. I checked out pictures online, read some descriptions, and even went to a store to see it in person. I took notes on all the details – the size, the shape, the hardware, everything.
  • Then, I started gathering materials. I needed some good quality leather, of course. I found a supplier online that had some decent stuff, nothing too fancy, but good enough for this project. I also needed some thread, needles, and other tools. I already had most of that stuff lying around.
  • Next, I made a pattern. This was probably the trickiest part. I sketched out the design on paper, then transferred it to cardboard to make a sturdier template. I had to make a few adjustments along the way, but eventually, I got it right.
  • Once I had my pattern, I started cutting out the leather. This was a slow and careful process. I didn’t want to make any mistakes.
  • After the leather was cut, I started sewing. This part took a while, but it was kind of relaxing, in a way. I used a basic saddle stitch, which is pretty strong and looks nice.
  • Finally, I added the hardware – the buckle, the strap, all that stuff. I found some similar-looking pieces online, they were not the real deal, but they worked.

The Result

And there you have it! My homemade version of the YSL LE CARRÉ SATCHEL BAG. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few little imperfections here and there. But overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks pretty darn close to the original, and it was a fun project to do. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself! Maybe I will do more projects like this in the future!
