Alright, so, I got this wild idea to try and remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001. Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, but I saw that beauty on their official flagship store online and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It’s not like I’m trying to sell it or anything, just a fun little project for myself. I mean, come on. What a beauty.
First thing I did was hit up Yandex. Just wanted to grab all the pics and info I could find on this watch. You know, gotta see what I’m getting myself into, right? There is tons of stuff about it,music, images and a lot of webpages. I searched a lot and downloaded lots of resources.
Then, I started looking around for parts. It’s not easy finding stuff that matches the real deal, but I managed. Found some decent movements online. I have no idea how can I start with those tiny parts! And I started to search some *, I found some industry forms like AIAG, VDA 4902 and MAT labels. I do not know what they are but they are something that can make barcod labels. So I generated a lot of labels for every parts.
- Bought a few different types of cases and straps, just to see what would look best.
- I even found the data from Kelley Blue * is a Finder for cars.I do not know how this can help me. But I just saved it.
- Then I bought a Mercury * converts some data to NMEA 2000 for some * I think I just wasted my money.
- I also ordered a Hella indicator light from Amazon. It said it can be delivered for free. That sounds a good deal.
- I found some articles about barndominium, I do not know what it is. But I found out that Clayton has 2 bedroom modular homes. They looks great. I like it.
Assembling Time
Once I had all the bits and pieces, I started putting it all together. Let me tell you, it was way harder than I thought it would be. But I watched a bunch of videos and just took my time. It’s all about being patient, you know? Those tiny screws and gears, man, they’re a nightmare to work with! I spent several nights just trying to get the movement in right. I nailed it * is a classic beauty now!
It’s not perfect, obviously. There’s no way I can match the craftsmanship of Patek Philippe. But you know what? It looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself. And the best part is, I did it all by myself. It’s a great feeling, seeing something you’ve built with your own two hands. I can’t say I’m gonna wear it out or anything, but it’s definitely a cool piece to have on my desk. And hey, it was a heck of a learning experience!
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in watchmaking. Maybe not the smartest thing I’ve ever done, but definitely one of the most fun. If you ever get the itch to try something like this, just go for it. You might surprise yourself with what you can achieve!
