Okay, so I’ve been wanting to remake this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, the large one, you know? And I finally went for it. Here’s how it all went down.

First off, I started by looking everywhere for info about this bag. I mean, this thing is iconic. It’s named “Galleria” because of that fancy shopping place in Milan where Prada started way back in, like, 1913. It is a cool history, right?

I found out that you can buy the real deal online, authenticated and all that, but they’re still super expensive. Like, up to 90% off the original price, but still. There are also these places online that have certified pre-owned ones. The condition is great, and they ship fast, but again, not exactly cheap.

So, I decided to try and remake it myself. I figured it would be a fun project, and I’d learn a lot in the process.

My first step was to really study the design. This bag is all about clean lines and that Saffiano leather. It’s classy and timeless, which is probably why it’s so popular. I spent hours looking at pictures, trying to understand how it was put together.

Then came the fun part – finding the materials. I needed that textured Saffiano leather, or something that looked pretty darn close. I also needed to find the right hardware, like the buckles and the zipper. Let me tell you, finding good quality materials that don’t cost a fortune is a challenge in itself!

  • Searched high and low for the leather.
  • Scoured online stores for the hardware.
  • Compared prices like a hawk.

Once I had everything, I started working on the pattern. This was probably the hardest part. I wanted to make sure I got the dimensions and the shape just right. I drew and redrew, cut and re-cut, until I was finally happy with it. And that takes a lot of time and patience!

Then I start to cut the leather. Using the pattern I’d made, I carefully cut out each piece of the bag. This part was super satisfying, seeing the bag slowly start to take shape.

Next, I began sewing. I used my trusty old sewing machine, which has seen me through many projects. I took my time, making sure each stitch was perfect. After all, this is a Prada bag we’re talking about, even if it’s a remake!

Putting It All Together

Slowly but surely, the bag started to come together. I attached the handles, added the lining, and installed the hardware. It was a lot of work, but seeing the finished product was so worth it.

And, finally, it was done! My very own homemade Prada Galleria bag. It’s not perfect, of course, but I’m super proud of it. It looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. And the best part is, I made it with my own two hands. That’s not something you can buy in a store.

So if you see me walking around with a large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, you might just think it is a real one. But you know the truth, I made it!
