Okay, so I recently got this idea to remake a YSL bag, the LE CARRé SATCHEL one to be exact. It’s a classic style, you know, pretty simple but really nice-looking.
First, I spent a bunch of time looking at pictures of the original bag. I needed to get a good feel for its shape, the way the leather looks, and all those little details. I looked everywhere online, trying to find as many angles of the bag as possible. It comes in python and calfskin, quite fancy.
Then, I started sketching. I’m not the best artist, but I managed to draw out the basic shape and figure out the dimensions. I wanted to make sure I got it right, or at least close enough.
Next up, I had to find the materials. I went to a few leather shops and finally found some black calfskin that I thought would work well. It wasn’t cheap, but I wanted something that would look and feel good. I also picked up some hardware – a buckle, some rings, you know, the usual stuff.
- Find the material
- Find the hardware
- Make it carefully
The actual making of the bag was the hardest part. I started by cutting out the leather pieces according to my sketches. Then, I began stitching. I decided to do it by hand because I like the look of hand-stitched leather, even though it takes way longer.
There were definitely some frustrating moments. I messed up a few times and had to redo some parts. But, I kept at it. Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
Finally, after many hours of work, it was done! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It definitely looks like a YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL, at least from a distance.
My Thoughts
It’s a cool project, and I learned a lot about bag making. If you’ve got some time and patience, I’d say give it a try. Just be prepared for some challenges along the way! This bag won’t scream “look at me,” but it’s got that classic vibe, which I like.
If you’re into classic bags and don’t mind something that’s handmade, maybe this remake idea is something you’d enjoy. It’s a good way to get a nice bag without spending a ton of money. This YSL Le Carre thing might be for you. It’s well-made, they say. It’s got a classic look.
I guess that’s it. That’s my whole story about remaking this YSL bag. Hope you found it interesting!
