Alright, let’s talk about my little project of trying to make a fake Rolex GMT-Master II, the one with the Pepsi bezel. You know, the red and blue one. It all started when I saw a real one and thought, “Man, that’s a good-looking watch, but who’s got that kind of cash?” So, I decided to try and make one myself, just for kicks. I mean it’s not like I’m trying to sell it or anything, I am just a little bit curious and like to know how it’s made and see if I can make one, lol.
First, I got on the internet and started looking around. I watched a bunch of videos and read some stuff on forums about how these watches are put together. I even found this place called Catawiki, which is like an online market for fancy stuff like watches. This helped me see what the real deal looks like up close, especially the details.
Then, I started gathering the parts. Now, I wasn’t using real Rolex parts, obviously. I got some cheap watch movements from an old watch I had lying around. For the case, I found a metal one that looked similar enough. The hardest part was the bezel. I found a piece of metal and painted it half red and half blue. It wasn’t perfect, but it kinda looked like the Pepsi bezel from a distance.
Putting it all together was tricky. I used some small tools I had at home, like tweezers and a tiny screwdriver. I had to be super careful not to break anything. I tried to copy how the hands and the little number markers are placed on the real Rolex. There was a lot of squinting and trying to get things lined up just right.
- First, I worked on the watch face, trying to get the markers and hands to look like the real thing.
- Next, I put the movement into the case. This was tough because I had to make sure everything fit snugly.
- Then came the bezel. I attached my homemade Pepsi bezel to the case, and it actually rotated, which was cool.
After a few hours of fiddling around, I finally had something that looked like a watch. It wasn’t a Rolex, of course, but it was my little creation. The bezel rotated, the hands moved, and it told the time. I even tried to engrave a fake serial number on the case, just to see if I could do it.
I wore it around for a day, just to see how it felt. It was heavier than I expected, and the bezel was a bit loose. But, hey, I made it myself! It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about how watches are made. Plus, now I have a new appreciation for the real Rolex GMT-Master II. Those things are complicated!
So, that’s my story about trying to make a fake Rolex. It was a fun experiment, and I got a neat little watch out of it. I’m not going to wear it out in public or anything, it’s more of a conversation piece now. And who knows, maybe I’ll try making another one someday, just to see if I can do it better next time.
I also searched up some information about the price of the real one, it seems that the price is not that friendly, it is placed in the mid-level price range. That’s not affordable for me and there’s no way I could buy one in the near future. I think there might be some more economical choices out there, but I am not that familiar with watches and need more research and study, lol.
And that’s my whole journey and all the things I learned and tried on this topic. Hope you guys like it and don’t forget to give me a thumb up! See ya next time.
